New Arrivals

Brenda our Berkshire sow had 7 piglets on the morning of our open garden weekend. Her babies got so many ooh’s and aah’s. Our new cats from the Cat Protection League have settled in well and are out on patrol. Both named by a customer Sooty and Sweep.

Complementary Spinning Afternoons

These have been a great success. It’s our thank you to our customers for their business and to those we have taught to spin. One of our most creative spinning sessions involved using Jay cloths, cling film, net, cords and sea shells to produce a hank of yarn called under the sea. A big thank you to you all for the yummy cakes and plants for the garden.

Wedding Flowers

I decorated the wedding venue for my son’s wedding and of course it was a creative riot of colourful flowers, lanterns and silk cords. I have pressed some flowers in silicon crystals and dried the rest to make pot-pourri satchets to give to family as souvenirs. A big thank you to Audery for helping and to Janet for the Antique jugs. The floral arrangements will be featured in Wedding Flowers magazine in November.

New on the Farm

My birthday surprise was two alpaca’s. They are so nosey and spend most of the day peering over the wall to see who comes and goes. A new bee hive has also arrived and the bees are busy in the garden.

New Products

Our new Knit Pro needles and crochet hooks have all sold very well. They are a delight to use. Sari ribbons have gone a storm being used for knitting, weaving, rug making, jewellery and lots of other creative ideas. Recycled sari silk and banana yarns have all sold very well. I shall continue to run all these fibres as they are ideal for bags, scarves and shawls and because of their shine are ideal for evenings.

Sock stop is an anti-slip rubber to paint onto the bottom of socks and felt slippers. New yarns for spinning include bamboo, soya bean, sea-cell, corn, nettle and milk protein. Hand knitted lace mohair shawls that are light as a feather but warm for round the shoulders. Available in plain and rainbow dyed colours.

New books on lace knitting are “Heirloom Knitting” and “Shetland Lace”. Arriving this autumn will be our new collection of luxury yarns in a variety of weights, cashmere, angora and camel.
