New Arrivals

I had some more in lamb shearling Herdwicks for Christmas. Their mum’s came from Cockermouth in Cumbria. They have come to join my few other Herdwicks who were feeling outnumbered by the other “white” sheep.

New Products from Schacht

The Cricket Loom will have a growth spurt and will soon have a 15” sibling. The Lazy Kate has been re-designed so will be able to be easily collapsed down for easy travel. We have one remaining Matchless Double Treadle spinning wheel in cherry available from a limited edition of 200 worldwide. Due to arrive February.

New Yarns

We have a new selection of Collinette Yarns available all dyed in Wales. To match we have their wool tops for spinning and felting, as well as a selection of kits and pattern books.

I’m a Grannie!

My first grandchild has been born in Sydney, Australia, a little girl called Flora Dorothy. Thank you to so many friends for the beautiful baby clothes and blankets. We’ll all be able to meet her as mum and dad are bringing her back for Christmas. I’ve started a new felt advent calender for her. I shall also make her a Christmas angel every year.

Christmas Gifts

We have some wonderful items ideal for gifts, mismatched cotton socks in wild jazzy colours and patterns. “Herdy” products inspired by Herdwick sheep from mugs to money boxes to aprons etc. Mugs and tea towels from a new small company called “A Farmers Daughter”, based on a Staffordshire Farm. To keep you warm this winter we still have stock of our pure wool blankets woven for us in Wales.

Schacht Spindle Co.

A large shipment has just arrived, so at long last we have managed to build up stock for immediate delivery. Schacht spinning and weaving products are the Rolls Royce of the industry. It is good to come and see the quality and try the equipment either at our workshop or as hundreds of you have at the years shows. Their new “Sidekick” is scotch tension, portable, fold up wheel with the drive wheel turned 90° so your feet are positioned either side of the wheel. We also have additional whorls and a bulky flyer kit.

Sheep’s Wool Insulation

We are agents for Second Nature selling their complete range of wool and recycled polyester insulation. Reduce your heating bills by insulating your loft, under floors and walls etc. Thermafleece is their best selling product made from pure wool.

Barbecues
We produce a good selection of burgers, sausages, chops and steaks ideal for barbecues or quick suppers. All meat is from our animals, red Dexters, Gloucester Old Spots and Berkshire pigs and Texel/Suffolk sheep.

Rosebud Preserves
We now stock this range of jams, jellies, pickles and chutney’s made on Rosebud Farm, near Masham in Yorkshire. They are made principally by hand in small batches using the best available local ingredients where possible e.g. these include wild fruit and flowers picked from surrounding hedgerows.

• New collections of Fat Quarters and Jelly Rolls cotton fabrics ideal for patchwork, linings for felt, knitted and woven bags, cushions etc.
• Willow Kits to make a basic basket, flower or dragonfly.

Charity Boxes
We support 3 local charities and are always delighted when you make a donation either as your loose change or as a thanks for a tea or coffee.
1. The Donna Louise Trust offers palliative care for young children in Staffordshire and South Cheshire.
2. The Midlands Air Ambulance operates 3 helicopters with no Government or National Lottery Funding – £6 million is needed each year.
3. The Buxton Mountain Rescue Team of which David is a full team member. They work with the police and other agencies to locate and recover lost or injured people from remote places in the Peak District and surrounding areas. The Team relies completely on voluntary donations.

Eco Arks
Feeling the cold? – then look on our website www.ecoarks.co.uk where we sell sheeps wool insulation from Second Nature, which
is made in Cumbria from coloured mountain wool such as ‘Herdwick’. We have 3 products ‘Thermafleece’ pure wool insulation,
‘PB20’ wool and recycled polyester and ‘Edenbloc’ a solid sheet of recycled carpet wool. We hold some stock for local delivery.
We also sell a range of recycled animal and poultry housing which are also on display in the courtyard. Available later in the
spring will be recycled planters and raised beds. Then fill your containers with our sheep’s wool compost. Our vegetables this
last summer in our raised beds were grown in the compost and soil and were the best ever in 14 years! Coming in the spring
will be a range of recycled garden furniture.

The Threshing Barn Meats
We have now returned to only selling our meats direct from our farm. David is still making a large variety of special ingredient
sausages. Our beef is from our rare breed Red Dexters, pork from our Berkshire, Tamworth and Gloucester Old Spot Pigs and
lamb from our Texel/Suffolk crosses.

Complementary Spinning Afternoons
We have had such fun creating beautiful art yarns. It has been good to take people out of their comfort zone and help them
explore new techniques. The afternoons have been a huge success that I have to restrict numbers. Please book and cancel if
