Saturday 1st – Felted Jewellery
Using dry needle felt and wet felt methods create a selection of jewellery from necklaces, bracelets, earrings and corsages. Further embellish with beads and embroidery.
Sunday 2nd – Ashfield Guild Hospitality Day
Bring your spinning wheel, small loom or just knitting. All welcome. 10.00am – 4.00pm, The Brunts School, Off the Park, Mansfield, NG18 2AT. See us there with our supplies.
Saturday 8th – All Wales Event
An exhibition of work from all the Welsh Guilds of Spinners, Weavers and Dyers, and a suppliers market. See us there. Minerva Arts Centre, High St., Llanidloes, Powys, SY18 6BY – all welcome.
Sunday 9th – Arts Baskets
Tah, a very talented craftsman, creates stunning modern baskets from split rattan, cane incorporating recycled materials. Come and make your own unique art basket.
Tuesday 11th – The Colours of Autumn
Weave a large leaf shaped table centre with wool and Wensleydale curls. You will use our Gaywool dyes to dye your wools and fix in the microwave. Using a peg loom learn a selection of weaving techniques.
Saturday 15th – Wyaston Day
An Ashbourne Embroidery Guild Event at Wyaston Village Hall, Nr. Ashbourne, Derbyshire, DE6 2DR. Exhibition, mini workshops and sales tables. See us there.
Sunday 16th October – Beginners Crochet
A good introduction to crochet by Anne. Explore the use of different materials and learn all the basic techniques to make a selection of “grannie squares” and flowers. Crochet is an excellent way to use up all your scraps of wool and yarns.
Tuesday 18th – Autumn Seed Heads
Be inspired by my photographs taken on my travels of dry flower seed heads. Create several sculptural stems from wire, beads, sequins and angelina fibres which will look stunning in a tall vase.
Thursday 20th – Autumn Glory
Our complementary spinning afternoon from 1.30 to 5.00pm. Spin a medium core of hand dyed texel wool and then triple ply with fine threads trapping small felt leaves. Booking essential.
Saturday 22nd – Fantastical Fabric Birds
This workshop has been transferred from September. Beautiful sculpted birds made from a framework of wire covered in fabric, beads and buttons. Chris will inspire you with his wonderful wacky flock of birds.
Sunday 23rd – Angels
Create an angel that can become a family heirloom. The body is made from white prefelt, the hair is our Wensleydale curls. Pam will show us how to embroider a dress made of an even weave fabric using a hardanger technique in either silk or gold threads. Wings will be stiffened fabric with embroidery and tiny seed beads.
Tuesday 25th – Felted Slippers
Get ready for winter by making a pair of warm wet felted slippers. Using bright coloured merino wool, blend your own variegated choice of colours and decorate with prefelt shapes or Wensleydale curls.
Friday 28th and Saturday 29th – East Sussex Guild
Off on our travels again to Lewes Town Hall to their Guild open day.
