May Courses

2nd, Wednesday – Beginners Crochet

By popular demand Ann returns to run this introduction to crochet. Ann has the patience of a saint and will happily get you all started. Anyone who knows the basics but wants to learn more techniques you are also very welcome. All yarn and hooks provided.

5th, Saturday – Flying the Flag

Get ready to fly the flag for U.K. for the Queens Jubilee Celebrations and the Olympics. We start by making a felted Union Jack or Olympic rings cushion to make your chair comfy while watching the T.V. Then have fun making bunting and cards with fabrics, lace and ribbons.

12th, Saturday – Shetland Lace

Marilyn truly inspires us all with her magnificent lace shawls. You will use our lace weight yarns to knit a selection of different patterns. The patterns have wonderful names such as strawberry, mouse paw, lozenge, diamond etc. If you are already a lace knitter but need help with patterns, edges etc. you are also very welcome.

13th, Sunday – Royal Spring Fairies

This flower fairy heralds the return of bud and blossom, prepares the earth to absorb the suns rays and promises the return of longer, lighter days. This is a family day to have fun making a selection of flower fairies.

19th, Saturday – Tynedale Weavers, Spinners and Dyers

Off on our travels up north to this wonderful ‘Friendship Day’ at Stocksfield Community Hall in Northumberland.

20th, Sunday – Cinderella’s Slippers

Make yourself a special pair of slippers using our cotton patchwork fabrics. The slippers are softly padded and the soles lined with felt. A fabric decoration is added for detail embellished with beads and buttons. Sewing machine required.

24th, Thursday – Rainbow Spinning

Our fun complementary afternoon. Using short lengths of bright coloured Merino wool, spin two bobbins before plying together. Every so often break the wool and re-tie leaving loose threads. Booking required.

26th, Saturday – Bakewell Farmers Market

Get there earlier for all that yummy food, fresh flowers, your lunch and local crafts.

27th, Sunday – www. Wool, Willow, Weave

Mally the basket maker from the Bakewell Farmers Market will come and lead this workshop. Using traditional basket making techniques we will incorporate a thick band of hand dyed wool into tassels, between the bands of willow. This basket would be ideal for storing your knitting, craft work or jewellery.
