February Courses

Wednesday 3rd – Winter Trees
Winter light gives dramatic skies contrasting against dark hills, snowdrifts and wind swept trees in silhouette. Produce a landscape with layers of pre felt which are then blended by wet felting. Detailed trees are needle felted with black knitting wools. If you like bring along your own photo’s as inspiration.

Sunday 7th – Beginners Spinning
An introduction to the craft of spinning. We will cover wool preparation, wheel construction, spinning and plying.

Friday 12th – Chinese New Year
Our complementary afternoon from 1.30 to 4.30pm. Spinning a hank of wool inspired by the Chinese New Year of the Tiger – which starts on the 14th.

Saturday 13th – Derby Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers.
I shall be running a workshop for them and selling my supplies.

Sunday 14th – Valentine Bath Treats
Come and enjoy our tribute to Valentines Day by making a selection of glycerine soaps and bath bombs. Have fun making wool covered soaps decorated with felt hearts.

Saturday 20th – Cabled Scarf
I am delighted to welcome Knitwear Designer Veronica Shaw to run this knitting technique workshop. Veronica has worked within the graphic interior design and craft worlds. She has contributed to Classic Stitch and other knitting magazines. Make a chunky and warm cabled wrap scarf, blending lots of yarns together and finished with large feature buttons.

Tuesday 23rd – Mixed Media Jewellery
Explore binding, weaving, wrapping and gluing methods using paper, silk, ribbons and wire etc. to create unique ornate beads and bracelets.

Saturday 27th – Bakewell Farmers Market.
